Directions
- GREASE a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- ARRANGE the day-old croissant cubes in the prepared dish. TUCK slices of ham between pieces of croissant and SPRINKLE with shredded cheese.
- In a bowl, WHISK together eggs, half and half, mustard, and nutmeg. SEASON with salt and pepper to taste. POUR the custard over the croissants and LET SOAK for 30 minutes or overnight.
- While the casserole is soaking, PREHEAT the oven to 350°F.
- BAKE in the preheated oven until the custard is set and the cheese is golden brown and bubbling, about 40-45 minutes.
- COOL for 5-10 minutes before serving. GARNISH with chives if desired.
